Long story short, we were both on a mission, and we ended up working together in order to finish it. We really didn't get along at first, but we had to learn to get past our differences so we could team up better, and... Well, the rest is history.
Well... The mission was dangerous, and there was a point where it seemed like I might not make it through. I was alright in the end, so you don't need to worry, but... I guess a situation like that makes you think about what's most important, you know? And I realized that - he mattered more to me than anything else.
[his voice gets a little thick towards the end, there, but he takes a breath to clear that out.]
Oh - do you have someone like that back home, too? If you do, I'd like to hear about them!
[with a grin]
That's actually a tough question...? There wasn't really a proposal because of, uh, circumstances. But he was the first one who used the word marriage, so I guess it would be him by default.
[a tiny bit teasing... but he continues after a moment.]
Sure. So, it was actually a pretty bad place... The entire forest was cursed. The mission we were on that I mentioned was to try and break that curse. It's a long story, but there was a prophecy about the exact way it could be broken, and it involved the two of us. Basically, us finding each other and uniting our kingdoms broke that curse. And when the curse broke, the entire forest disappeared.
I think it usually is... [Stupid, that is. She smiles faintly.]
... Oh! What about Porridge? [She looks over to the dragon again. This might be a lighter topic than, like, war?] You said you met him when he was a baby?
Yeah. A lot of people who weren't involved in the conflict got hurt... I hate that kind of thing.
[he brightens up as she brings up porridge, though.]
I did, yeah! Actually, Amir and I made camp in a cave for shelter one night, and that's where we found his egg. It hatched not long after that. We thought they were extinct at that point, so we were very surprised when he was born.
Well... he's an Entelexeia, which is an ancient race of intelligent beings. He's one of the last of his kind...
[And thanks to this week's effect, Rupert will feel a sudden pang of guilt and sadness over that.]
... He helped me and my friends a lot on our journey. He could carry a whole boat so we could fly in the air while riding it, like it was an airship! With Ba'ul's help, we could go anywhere in the world.
He understands our language, but he can't vocalize things in a way that humans can hear and understand. But my friend Judith could understand him. She's a Krityan, so she can communicate with Entelexeia without speaking. If he needed to say something to us, she had to translate.

I got pretty lucky, meeting him.

I think I can understand what that's like, in a way...
... So who proposed to who?

[For someone who's so interested in other people's love lives, she's pretty quick to get flustered at the very suggestion of her own.]
S, so, how did you two manage to destroy a forest?

Uniting your kingdoms... So he's from another kingdom? -- Wait, is he royalty too?
no subject
He is, yeah. A prince. Actually... Our kingdoms were at war for a long time. That's kind of how all the trouble got started.
no subject
But they don't have to fight anymore, right? If they're united...

[said uncomfortably, before he moves on]
The reasons we got into it in the first place were pretty stupid, anyways. So I'm really glad it's over now.

... Actually, I have a friend who's a dragon, too. His name is Ba'ul. He's really big!

Ooh, tell me about him!

Wow... He sounds really incredible! So when you say intelligent, do you mean he could talk and everything?

[Speaking of, she'll give Porridge another curious look. Is he awake? Does he know we're talking about him?]
no subject
If you still want to pet him, I promise he won't object.

[Estelle practically jumps to her feet. She approaches Porridge and gives him a little bow.]
Nice to meet you, Porridge.
[She holds out a hand to see how he responds to it.]
