Uniting your kingdoms... So he's from another kingdom? -- Wait, is he royalty too?

[he's making a note to himself to inquire further about that later!! but for now:]

He is, yeah. A prince. Actually... Our kingdoms were at war for a long time. That's kind of how all the trouble got started.

It's almost like a fairytale...

But they don't have to fight anymore, right? If they're united...

[agleam]

Yeah, we haven't been at war since we got engaged. We've had... some other stuff come up since then, but not between our kingdoms.

[said uncomfortably, before he moves on]

The reasons we got into it in the first place were pretty stupid, anyways. So I'm really glad it's over now.

[mustbepurged]

I think it usually is... [Stupid, that is. She smiles faintly.]

... Oh! What about Porridge? [She looks over to the dragon again. This might be a lighter topic than, like, war?] You said you met him when he was a baby?

[agleam]

Yeah. A lot of people who weren't involved in the conflict got hurt... I hate that kind of thing.

[he brightens up as she brings up porridge, though.]

I did, yeah! Actually, Amir and I made camp in a cave for shelter one night, and that's where we found his egg. It hatched not long after that. We thought they were extinct at that point, so we were very surprised when he was born.

[mustbepurged]

So you're like his parents!

[agleam]

Yeah, that's a good way to think of it! But I definitely think of him like a friend, too.

[mustbepurged]

That's wonderful.

... Actually, I have a friend who's a dragon, too. His name is Ba'ul. He's really big!

[agleam]

[gasps]

Ooh, tell me about him!

[mustbepurged]

Well... he's an Entelexeia, which is an ancient race of intelligent beings. He's one of the last of his kind...

[And thanks to this week's effect, Rupert will feel a sudden pang of guilt and sadness over that.]

... He helped me and my friends a lot on our journey. He could carry a whole boat so we could fly in the air while riding it, like it was an airship! With Ba'ul's help, we could go anywhere in the world.

[agleam]

[he makes a face as he feels that, but there's not much of a reaction beyond that.]

Wow... He sounds really incredible! So when you say intelligent, do you mean he could talk and everything?

[mustbepurged]

Yes! ... I mean, kind of!

He understands our language, but he can't vocalize things in a way that humans can hear and understand. But my friend Judith could understand him. She's a Krityan, so she can communicate with Entelexeia without speaking. If he needed to say something to us, she had to translate.

[agleam]

That's so cool... Porridge is pretty animated, so it's not hard to tell what he's thinking, but it's not the same thing as having a translator!

[mustbepurged]

Hehe... Sometimes you don't need words to understand one another.

[Speaking of, she'll give Porridge another curious look. Is he awake? Does he know we're talking about him?]

[he seems to be waking up! and rupert gestures towards him with a grin.]

If you still want to pet him, I promise he won't object.

Really? It's okay!?

[Estelle practically jumps to her feet. She approaches Porridge and gives him a little bow.]

Nice to meet you, Porridge.

[She holds out a hand to see how he responds to it.]
