[Estelle is in the marketplace in Ahnkeen, excitedly going from stall to stall, and occasionally staring upward at the weathered remains of the massive serpentlike skeleton that runs through the entire street.]
This place is amazing... like something from a storybook!
[She's not dressed for the weather at all, but she seems to be too excited to care.]
[by now, he's discarded the staff uniform and changed back into his normal clothes. since the hat is gone, it reveals a pair of very fluffy and floppy dog ears on his head as he looks around as well, taking care to stay out of the way of all these shadow people.
her enthusiasm is infectious, though, and he grins.]
It's pretty cool, right? I'm guessing you've never been in a place like this before.
It's so cool! I traveled to the desert once before, but even then, it was so different from this. There are so many stalls, and... [She points up.] I think that skeleton runs through the entire settlement! They must have built around it.
[glancing up at the skeleton with an air of wonder as well.]
Wow... I can't imagine how long that took. I've never been to a place this big, either! Imagine how cool it would be if it was filled with real people, instead...
[crowds are kind of overwhelming, but also pretty cool when they aren't comprised of shadow people. he gives a little laugh at the next part.]
Oh - yeah. I promise I wasn't possessed or anything, I just had to pretend that I worked there for a task.
Right, it must have been so lively, with a real crowd. And even though they're probably not dangerous, it's still a little hard to relax around these shadows...
[She nods quietly, as if hoping that if she doesn't voice it, the shadows won't get offended. They do not seem to care either way.
She smiles at that next part, though.]
It would be nice to go on a journey like that again. Oh, but the desert was really dangerous to cross... We should be careful of the heat out here, too.
...It must have been really important to get wherever you were going, if you were willing to take a risk like that. I don't think you should blame yourself.

Yeah. Like, no offense to them if they can secretly hear me, but - they're kind of creepy, right?
[either way, he tilts her head.]
I hope you can check out a place like this again when you make it back home.

[glancing up towards the sky, though he is at least smart enough to not stare directly at the sun.]
Stuff like heatstroke and dehydration, right? Were you guys okay when you traveled through it?
no subject
We ended up passing out from exhaustion... We were lucky to be rescued.

[immediately concerned]
Jeez, that's scary... I'm really glad someone found you, too! You got a chance to rest afterwards, right?

[It was a little more complicated than that, but those are the important facts.]
I knew the desert was dangerous, but I insisted on going anyway... I don't think I could have forgiven myself if we didn't all make it...

... A-anyway, I'm just glad we made it.
