Hehe. They're so vibrant, they're a little hard to look at... [A sheep gently headbutts her, apparently offended that she's not paying it any attention. She reaches over to pet it, gently stroking its neck.] but they're so friendly!

Kinda hurts your eyes after a while, I guess... But I like them, too. Did you have any pets back at the castle?

No, but I've always wanted one. Oh, and one of my traveling companions was a dog! He's really smart.

What about you, Rupert?

[agleam]

Oh - was he smart enough to communicate with, like the dragon you were traveling with?

[regardless, he nods]

There's Porridge, of course, but I had a dog named Fitzroy and a horse named Euripides too.

Not exactly... but sometimes it felt that way. I think he and Yuri always knew exactly what the other was thinking.

That sounds so nice...! Did you name all of them yourself?

Ha... Yeah, I think I can get that. Dogs can definitely be pretty easy to read, at least! What's his name?

[he nods, though.]

Yeah. I've had them both since I was a kid.

They're good names. I especially like Euripides! [Vesperia likes its Greek names and so does Estelle.]

His name is Repede. He can do a lot of amazing things... like track down enemies, and bring healing items to us when we're hurt, and he can even fight with a knife!

[agleam]

[he blinks, pausing for a long moment at that last little bit.]

—He can fight with a knife? I didn't know dogs could be that skilled! Wow...

Yes! I would have thought it'd be easier to use his teeth, but he seems to prefer fighting that way.

What was even more surprising was that he can smoke a pipe, too...

...You're absolutely sure that he's a dog?

What else would he be?

No idea! But I've never heard of a dog who could do all of that before.

Oh, right, I was wondering. Have you looked at the new items in the gift shop?

Yeah. I want to save up for a first aid kit.

I'm really curious about the lucky charm, but it looks like someone already got it.
