Ooookay, let me try here. Um. They're-- how did I explain it to Zhongli-- it's like an illusion made by a machine? A video game is like... oh, it's like the movies on the tv here! Except instead of just watching, you're controlling it. It'd be like if in that movie, you had control of the main character and could make them do what you wanted. Not anything you want, sometimes the game just lets you pick specific actions to take, but you're still in control of that.

And a dating game is-- basically what it says in the name, the objective is to successfully date one of the love interest characters. Usually that means that when you're controlling the main character, you're trying to do things to get them to like your character, but you're also trying to make the right choices for the story in general.
